This is a one-man band from Japan, and I have to say it does have that Asian sound to it—the melodic underpinnings of Japanese Black Metal and the machinegun drumming of Asian Black/Death kind of mashed in together. The production is not bad, but the mix is a mess, with the vocals too upfront and the guitar channels constantly overpowering each other, while the drums sound like cardboard boxes. This has some nice melodic ideas going on, clearly very influenced by Dissection, but the compositions are kind of shapeless, and after a few songs the sameness of the songwriting starts to become really apparent. There’s potential here, but a lot of room for improvement. |
