Jumalation (a Finnish swear akin to shouting "god damn" in any context) are an old-school Finnish Thrash act whose recent promo Luxi asked me to cover since he knows the band personally and would rather someone with less bias cover it. I don't know anything about the band past the material presented here, but said material is a workout of feral, evil Thrash that just barely skirts the boundary of Death/Thrash in the vein of Infernal Majesty and Dark Angel. Included in this are three of the six tracks for the album proper, opening with the screaming leads of "In the Name of the Almighty" before getting into the savage, piercing riffs and throaty yells that earnestly tear your face off and wear it as a mask as they shout right in your damn face. The other two tracks are just more of that with the occasional powerful melody that's as beautiful as it is barbaric, all of which tears a lot of current Thrash revival bands in half as it drinks their weak, derivative blood. Since this is just a promo, I'm not too keen on rating it that highly just yet, but if this is merely half of what the band has to offer us, I for one am eagerly awaiting being swallowed whole by The Mouth of Moloch.
