Devourer really struck it out of the park with their latest album, the furious Raptus, and it seems they want to strike while the pan is hot and decided to release three rehearsal tracks to their fans, two of which ended up on their previous album and one on Across the Empty Plains. The audio for this is surprisingly pretty strong for a rehearsal, and since the songs they picked are played more or less the same way as on the albums, this might be the best way many people (myself included) will get to hear what they sound like playing live. I will say that there's a video version of this rehearsal up online, and that's easily the best way to experience this release, as it lets you see how the band performs their material in person. You could argue this is the kind of release only fans will care about, but I happen to think Devourer are one of the most exciting and interesting Black Metal bands out there at the moment, so I can imagine worse ways to introduce yourselves to their crisp, ruthless style than with a rehearsal that proves it.
