This is fun. Reanimator is a Canadian thrash band that's been around for a while, though I can't say I've seen them mentioned all that much through the years. That's too bad as they certainly deserve more attention. Commotion might just be my favourite album by them. From the first note all the way to the end, this is a non-stop thrashfest that has both an aggressive and a party vibe going on, tiptoeing into the old school as their base sound but delivering it with a more modern sauce. A lot of the songs here are pretty damn catchy and there's more than one can handle in terms of headbanging moments. They incorporate quite a bit of melody, but that doesn't water down the experience in any way, especially with the harsh-ish vocals that bring in the aggression whenever the music gets a little more "mellow," for lack of a better word. Commotion is the kind of thrash that gets the party started and keeps it going all night and you'll just beg for more. |
