Infernal Tyrant is a project started by Metal Thrashing Mike of the Metal Thrashing Nerd podcast (no relation to our MetalMike....I think), and if none of that clued you in to what style of Metal they work in, I'm amazed you can read this sentence. For everyone else, it's just a question of what kind of Thrash they work in, and on their debut, Fallen from Grace, it's a clean limbed, slightly technical variant that focuses more on melody than average while still having the aggression and attitude needed to thrash. The guitar work is the clear highlight of this album, consisting of an assault of sharp, chugging riffs and keen, biting melodic leads that'll get your head banging in no time. That said, I think the album is hurt a bit by having all the songs working at more or less the same tempo, so the material has a habit of blending in despite its quality. The biggest drawback, however, is the vocals, which are a flat distorted bark that's mixed too up front and sometimes gets in the way of otherwise solid songs, as on "Insurrection" and the awful chorus on album closer "Thunder and Thrash". Still, the guitar work alone is able to make up for most of that, and with more variety and better vocals, I can see this band making a name for itself in the underground. Worth a listen.
