Konquest is an Italian band that plays such old-school sounding metal it would have been shocking if they weren't on No Remorse as that label has excelled at finding these bands in recent years. Time and Tyranny is Konquest's second full-length, and I would not have been surprised if they were one of the myriads of unheralded early '80s groups that never hit it big back in the day, but they are a new outfit formed in 2019. They, or more accurately he, as this is a one-man effort by guitarist Alex Rossi, play galloping traditional metal that has a delightfully unpolished sound and a pile of punchy riffs. The album doesn't remind me of one band in particular, but I can hear NWOBHM groups like Blitzkrieg (the dark atmosphere punctuated with a major chord riff on "Something in the Dark"), Tokyo Blade (the emphatic vocals of "The Traveller") and Iron Maiden (the epic guitar lines on the instrumental "Enter the Warrior"). Nothing is new on Time and Tyranny, but that isn't the point with these kinds of albums, it's more about evoking the feeling of being back in the "golden age" of metal and Konquest do that pretty damn well. I won't call it the greatest effort along those lines as the songwriting isn't as memorable as it might be, but fans of the early '80s and especially the NWOBHM shouldn't miss it.
