... Decibel Storm... was OZ's fourth studio album, and the first step on their descent into generic arena rock territory that culminated with the disappointing Roll the Dice five years later. Thankfully, this is a superior album to that, mostly due to Ape De Martini's distinctive powerful vocals and Jay C. Blade's beefy, upfront bass lines still being present. The songwriting overall is better too, having a solid flow being pretty catchy, making this a pretty easy listen overall. Of course, this is OZ we're talking about, the band known for uncompromising aggression and power on their previous two albums, and songs like "Black Tattoo" and "The Show Must Go On" proved the band was definitely moving away from all that. Still, tracks like "Firestarter" and "Exterminator" are classic OZ songs through and through, and even their cover of Sweet's "Teenage Rampage" is alright, if not much more, so I'd say this is still a worthy album of theirs, if only just barely. A big step down from their classics, but certainly the last good album they made before their revival.
