A Kris Verwimp cover always gets my attention, but I will say I expected this to be much more atmospheric than it is, and this is very much inspired by classic melodic bands like Dissection or Thy Serpent with a kick of Behexen-styled ferocity. There's enough shade and depth to the music here to keep it interesting for those who are into more epic sounds, while also being harsh enough that nobody could complain this lacks in the metal department. Some really good riffs and good sound does a lot for this, even if the vocals are a little monotonous. Worth a look if you like Pagan Black Metal. |
