Review

I liked both of these band's albums of no-nonsense black/thrash last year (I started my review of Bunker 66's split with Hellcrash with almost these same words...) and here they each throw three more tracks of insanity at unsuspecting ears. If I have to pick a winner here, it's Bunker 66, but it's entirely subjective as their side has that Motörhead vibe (including a cover of "Doctor Rock") that I just can't resist. It's more of a "black/thrash 'n' roll," easy-going style that works great if you're in a party mood. Lucifuge really aren't far behind, especially if you want something more aggressive, darker and speedier. Here the black/thrash has a punkier attitude to it, so not quite as lighthearted, and the first two songs are quite closer to black metal. The last one, "Warriors of the Night," is quite different and actually closer to what Bunker 66 have on offer on this split. They call it a metal anthem and that's really what it is, a catchy song that gets you going from the first few seconds and it's headbanging and fist in the air to the end. A cool, unpretentious little split that does a good job introducing both bands.
