Portugal has churned out quite a bit of quality metal over the years, and Torn Fabriks prove to be another with their full-length debut, Impera. Riff-fueled Thrash is the name of the game here, with a focus split evenly on old-school and modern sensibilities that sounds a lot like a more brutal version of Destruction. The sound is heavy and the riffs are plentiful barrages of steel, but the songwriting doesn't have too much variety, so they tend to blend together outside of the old-school Death Metal sensibilities on "Rise or Fall". Still, this remains a fairly promising debut from a band that any Thrash fan should begin watching out for in the future. |
