My first impression was that these guys sound like they were parachuted from the early '90s and, as it turns out, this is a band that formed in 1992 but did not release their first album until 2019, and now this is their second album. I guess they're picking up the pace. This is old-school Swedish death metal through and through, exactly the way you expected it to sound 30 years ago, so In Pain have done away with trying to incorporate a more modern approach and totally stuck to their roots. Heavy, mid to fast paced, and that buzzsaw guitar sound that's so addictive. I really like the vocals, a deep but raucous growl that's mostly decipherable and makes the songs more memorable, most of which are already pretty catchy. Headbangable from beginning to end. |
