This is somehow the fifth album by another band I have never heard of. Amon Acid are a British Doom band with obviously more than a little stoner vibe to their sound, but not enough for me to find it annoying. The riffs are pretty good, and the sound has enough grit to be interesting. Guitarist/vocalist Sarantis Charvas has a limited range, so the vocal lines get kind of monotonous, and this band often commits the Doom sin of repeating things too many times just to pad out the length of the songs. The riffs are almost good enough to justify how many times they get played, but not quite. Still, I found this enjoyable, even if it lacks some presence. The repetition and limited vocal range mean there's nothing about this that really stands out, nothing that rises above and becomes memorable, but if you just want to put on some groovy doom and zone out, this will do it. |
