This band was originally from France but then relocated to Canada (Montreal). The black metal on offer here is raw and more or less minimalistic, but it's also very melodic, much more so than most albums this raw ever are. The atmosphere is downright crushing; very heavy and depressing with croaky, raspy vocals that scream of despair. If you understand French, they're decipherable enough without too much effort. There are some slow, almost doomy songs that will darken the sunniest of days, but there are also some faster ones that, while a bit rawer, remind me of the early 2000 French black metal scene, a sound I always welcome. Good stuff. |
