One of the few death metal bands I really like, Cleveland, Ohio's Nunslaughter has teamed up with Phoenix, Arizona's Fluids for a seven-song split lasting just a hair over 11 minutes. Nunslaughter's three fast, thrashy contributions barely span three and a half minutes, which means they are over far too quick. Despite their brevity, "It's You I Hate" and "Into the Chasm" have solid riffs and catchy choruses and make me wish they were longer. Their short duration and screaming vocals remind me of hardcore in the way they attack you, but they are firmly death metal. Fluids features the low, growly vocals that I personally don't like, but I think they are fine for this style of death metal, which is slower and groovier than Nunslaughter. Three of the four tracks they've contributed are under two minutes, but they do have one clocking in at just over three. I honestly can't tell one from the next and initially thought there were only three songs as two ran together and I didn't realize.

Fluids sounds firmly from the '90s Floridian scene and don't sound like they are doing anything unusual and Nunslaughter's tracks are so short that despite their catchiness barely stick around long enough to leave any kind of impression. I sort of like this release because it blasts me in the face for around 10 minutes then ends and I can take a breath, but if you are more of a fan of death metal than I, this split might be a little skimpy for you.
