This is the third album from this one-man project by a guy called M who really, really likes Immortal. I mean, from the very first blasting riff this thing just screams "IMMMMOOORRRTAAAALLL" and it never stops. Now, Immortal are in another one of their hiatuses, so I am all for some good homages, and this is a really good one. This album actually brings some melodic flourishes and a bit of individual sound to what is overall 40 minutes of worshiping at the altar of At the Heart of Winter. And as I said, if you are doing a good job of imitating a fucking great album, then I am prepared to cut you some serious slack. The production on this is pitch-perfect, the riffs are vicious, and the whole thing oozes the cold atmosphere you need if you are going for that Immortal sound. Good shit.
