This didn’t look that exciting, but the presence of Primordial frontman Nemtheanga as bassist/vocalist got my attention, and this disc rewards that attention. Entirely unlike Primordial, this is vicious, sludgy Black Metal that has a more Hellhammer vibe from being riff-driven rather than addicted to the tremolo. This is subterranean, crawling, lightless music with bleak atmosphere and surprisingly catchy songwriting. If you like super-raw Black Metal exclusively, this is going to sound too accessible for you and far too well produced, but if you like shit like Blood of Kingu or Faustcoven, then this is what you want. |
