Normally when something says it is "Black/Doom" that means it is going to be Black Metal with drawn-out arrangements and agonal vocals of the bleakest kind. This is very different, working a percussive, propulsive Black Metal sound built on a foundation of sometimes quite beautiful Doom melodies. So it’s not really slow, or what you would call "depressive," but it is still definitely Doom in approach and feel. I can’t say I have ever heard a sound quite like it. Melodically this reminds me of Mythological Cold Towers—for the twelve people who will know what that means—but the sound and approach are miles away. I have to give this album credit for doing something different and doing it well.
