Glad to see these Italian power metallers back so soon after the excellent Winterbane from 2021. Call of the North is very much in the same vein. Fast, powerful, melodic power metal with an epic and medieval vibe that will charm the listener. It’s pretty obvious from their music and their multiple videos that the band is into the medieval, and that vibe is even stronger this time around and it makes for some very catchy melodies that will get stuck in your head right away. This stuff is very infectious and pretty much everything I said about Winterbane still holds true. No harsh vocals popping up this time around, though the guitarist does pop up with some vocals from time to time. I’m not crazy about his lines on "Fire in the Sky", but otherwise I find his interventions don’t sound too out of place. I really like the guitar work here and, if you’ve watched their videos, it’s easy to picture the guitarists’ fingers dancing on the chords while you’re listening to some of the really cool solos. Another winner in Frozen Crown’s discography. |
