Yet another album that Blood Fire Death saw fit to send me as a CD promo weeks after I already had the digital promo. Somebody has their wires crossed. Anyway, this is a band who look kind of post-metal but are not, instead working a very middle-of-the-road sound that is mostly Death Metal, a little Blackish, and with a definite gloss of technicality. The album opens with a delightful blare of hyperspeed melodic guitar work that made me think this might be actually good, but soon enough that kind of energy is simply flattened to make way for tepid songwriting and monotonous screaming. Pass. |
