This is apparently a rerelease of this band's debut EP from last month, only this time with more tracks to fill it out to a short full-length and with label support from Odium Records. Pretty fast turnaround, and I don't know if the tracks that also appeared on the 3-song EP were rerecorded for this. Hyl are an international band who play fairly dense, hard-edged Black Metal with a good guitar sound and some involved compositions. I like the sound of this, as it has great tone and solid riffs with a lot of layers, so there is always a lot going on. The songwriting does not really do anything amazing, but it is decent enough. Nothing revolutionary, but good. |
