Have to admire the courage of young Norwegian Black Metal bands, because it makes it instantly harder to stand out from the crowd, yet they keep trying. This is the fourth album from Nattverd, and I'm not going to say it's bad, but if there is a dead-center middle of the black metal road, then this is it right here. Weak guitar sound but not hideously so, the riffs are standard, the vocals are standard, the songwriting is competent but never does anything that has not been done a million times before by better bands. So, it's not bad, it's just exactly what you expect when you see the words "Norway" and "Black Metal" together—exactly that and no more. |
