Right off, Shattered Vanity is heavier than 2019's Into the Night and I also find the vocals less annoying; they're very high-pitched still, but much more in line with what was going on in the mid-80s period that these guys worship. Rather than cringe, I sometimes felt like singing along, and some of the vocal lines are very catchy. The band sticks to the old school and makes no apologies for it. Sometimes I was reminded of Agent Steel. Leathürbitch don't really sound like them, but between the very high-pitched vocals and the speed and heaviness on offer on Shattered Vanity, one can find some similarities. These guys cranked it up a few notches this time around and you'd think it's a different band playing. Very heavy and fast, catchy, old-school heavy metal that can get you a speeding ticket if you're listening to it in the car. I suggest setting your cruise control, just to be on the safe side. |
