Damn. This is some massive old-school death metal ass-kicking right here. Vomitory have just given birth to a huge slab of fast, pounding, brutal death metal very much rooted in the early '90s Swedish sound with a modern production that helps highlight just about everything that's going on, and there's a lot going on. Despite the speedy delivery, I found a lot of the songs here to be quite catchy and there's a lot that sticks once the album is over. Trying to headbang to this would likely revive my latest concussion, but it was hard resisting the urge as this music feels like there's an arm grabbing your head and forcing you to headbang. Every now and then I could swear some parts were reminiscent of the Florida and Polish schools of death metal, but overall this is Swedish through and through. This is one death metal album that caught my attention this year, and I rarely say that. Check it out. |
