This is an album that didn't quite grab me right away but, as is often the case, I knew there was something there and I set it aside for a while, and then it clicked when I put it back on my playlist. This is a traditional heavy metal album that could lead you to believe this band was formed in the '80s (2011, actually, so not even close). Their music is deeply rooted in late '70s and early '80s heavy metal. The modern production is clean, yet leads to a powerful and somewhat raw-ish sound that really comes out and grab you, whether it is on the faster numbers or the slower stuff like "The Wrath", which is slow-paced but so loud and powerful, you can't help but stop whatever you're doing and just be swept away. There are a lot of bands going for this style nowadays, with varying success, but Night Demon really nailed it with this album. You'll find better, you'll find worse, but Outsider is a sure bet for fans of traditional heavy metal. Crunchy guitars, powerful drums, clean and powerful vocals, catchy and powerful melodies. Lots to like here.
