War Against All

Rated 4.56/5 (91.11%) (9 Votes)

Northern Chaos Gods was the work of Demonaz and Horgh, but this time it's Demonaz alone on War Against All. Well, what can I say? This still sounds like Immortal through and through. That signature sound is still there; tell me you don't think "Immortal" as soon as you hear the guitar work. I found Northern Chaos God more aggressive and heavier, though that's not lacking on this album either, just a bit more subtle about it. Lots of melody and catchiness, something they've been doing since At the Heart of Winter in 1999. If you like Immortal, you'll like this, but if you didn't like them before, I don't hear anything that will win you over. All songs are strong, nothing skipworthy, and the album is short enough that it doesn't overstay its welcome; it's just solid Immortal.
