This is better than the last album I heard from Waxen, 2014's Agios Holokauston. It's quite melodic black metal with a raw edge and lots of speed. The croaky shrieks are an acquired taste, but I'm not as put off as I was with the aforementioned album, and they fit the music which comes off sounding shrieky and all over the place—I'm not sure where the band was going with this. It's not bad but often what you find around the corner is definitely not what you expected. Not great, but interestingly messy and at least they don't sound like everyone else.
