Debut for this Swedish band, who have to carry the burden of being Yet Another Swedish Death Metal Band. Overall this is not too different from what you would expect, though it is done well. The riffs are solid, and the crunching, crushing production job is dirty enough to be visceral without sounding muddy. There is definite DNA from Entombed and Dismember and their ilk in this, and a lot of it is pretty standard stuff, but sometimes the lead breaks on this go off into highly melodic rips that call Melodeath bands to mind, and that goes a way toward elevating this above the usual a bit. Overall, this is nothing new, but it's solid. |
