Seven years since their last album, Avenger of Blood are back with...a re-recording of their debut. Which, okay, I never heard it, so that's fine with me. It was released on a tiny label in 2005 and never repressed, so I bet a lot of people never heard it. Makes me wonder if the old label is sitting on the rights, so the band had to re-record it to get it out there. I hate when labels do that shit.

Avenger of Blood are a Death/Thrash band who put the THRASH front and center. Classic Kreator or Agent Orange-era Sodom come to mind, as do the inevitable Slayer comparisons and even some Sepultura bits of flash here and there. The riffs are heavy and compulsively head-bang-able, the vocals are a proper Thrash rasp, and even if the songs don't sound very distinct from each other, with this kind of music that doesn't matter so much. I just want a band like this to keep the energy level amped up and thrash right through it, and this band does that.
