Debut full-length for this band who originate from the deeps of a horror-filled abyss—also known as Fort Wayne, Indiana. There is a blend of styles going on here, with definite nods to Swedish Death Metal, but also a lot of influence from US stalwarts like Incantation. Part of what I like about this is the primitive recording job, which gives this a hollow, echoing sound that makes it seem subterranean and cool in a way it wouldn't if it was more clean-cut. There's nothing really unusual about this, but the crude production still makes it sound underground and vicious, and I like it anyway. |
