Second album for this Indonesian band. I have certain expectations for extreme metal from this part of the world, and it's ironic that while this is techy, it doesn't go crazy with it and it actually comes off as slower and more structured than the machinegun-speed approach I was anticipating. Tight, aggressive playing, intricate rhythm picking, and song structures that hammer and spiral all over the place. This is set off by some really good melodic lead work that ups the game quite a bit. A lot of tech bands seem to be desperate to prove their chops, but Demented Heart have confidence and it shows in the songwriting that is complex but never comes off as desperate or showy for the sake of it.
