Named for an Exciter song, this Swedish outfit play very '80s-influenced metal that goes for that crunching classic metal vibe with a welcome layer of Thrash-styled chugging. I like the bare-bones riff style, even if I do wish the guitar sound was a little dirtier and more upfront. Vocalist/guitarist Lasse Hietala has a nice gravelly voice that is rough but tuneful, and the songwriting is tight and packs a lot of energy. The songs could use some more identity, as while they all sound good individually, they all sound a lot alike, with the same kinds of tempos and the same kinds of riffs. This band has the right idea, but they have room to improve. |
