Not the Death Metal band, but a new Black Metal band with a rather impressive debut. This is a mysterious band, without a list of members or any real info about where they are actually from. All that just means the music has to do the talking, and it says this is second-wave dedication with a modern gloss to the production. Atonal tremolo riffing and sprawling arrangements mean this is a far cry from the more melodic, accessible kinds of Black Metal, but instead evokes stuff like old Lord Belial or early Satyricon. Is it breaking the mold? No, but that's not what this is trying to do. This is blazing, bitter Black Metal that hits just what it was aiming at. |
