Named, I assume, after one of Metallica's early songs, I thought this would be some kind of thrash or speed metal band, but Texas' Creeping Death are very much death metal with a hint of hardcore. I'm not a fan of hardcore and I like this, so don't let that deter you if we're in the same boat. This stuff is mid to fast paced, with an omnipresent "beat" that just keeps the head banging the whole fucking time (hello, chiropractor). The vocals are mostly decipherable harsh growls and one of the things I like the most about the album; they just fit the music like a glove, just flowing along perfectly. This is pretty clean sounding and precise, but that doesn't deter from the brutality of the music on offer and those razor-sharp riffs are bound to sling the wax out of your ears. The overall atmosphere is dark and gives the album a bit of a monotone vibe—in a good way—but the occasional solo will sweep you out of that trance. Good stuff. |
