Take Motörhead at their grimiest, punkiest and you'll get an idea of what Germany's Intöxicated are aiming at with their second album, Sadistic Nightmares. They actually take their music further into metal territory with more aggressive lyrics (though the phrase "rock and roll" comes up more than once) and pedal firmly on the floor most of the time but you can still feel the Motörhead influence. A lot of the tempos are rollicking, and the songwriting isn't as dark as you might expect, at least not musically anyway. Hard to spin a song called "Sex, Violence, and Death" in anything resembling a positive way, I suppose. Still, the screaming solos, à la Fast Eddie Clarke, and catchy choruses are a lot of fun. And fun is the best word I can think of to describe the 30+ minutes of mayhem on Sadistic Nightmares because it isn't all that original or played any better than everyone else, but if you think a mix of Motörhead and perhaps Midnight sounds good, you should check it out.
