This is a 30-year anniversary reissue, first time on CD, of the Flesh & Blood demo by this short-lived Finnish death metal band. That's not exactly the most appealing band name, but I guess it's kind of fitting for the raw and dirty, somewhat minimalistic death metal on offer. These guys play it pedal to the metal, mostly fast-paced stuff here with some slower bits popping up on occasion. It's, of course, not as fast as many death metal bands would play years later, but it's fast enough to mess up your neck. The vocals are a raucous growl that's decipherable if you pay close enough attention and it comes off with a dryness to it that's really befitting the music. It's hard not to headbang all the way through this and the music is quite catchy for something this raw. Too bad it's only 21 minutes long, but they use the time well. Only a few hundred tapes were originally made, so here's your chance if you want to own a little piece of Finnish death metal history. |
