This is an independent band from Germany working their second album. Tomb of Giants play a pummeling stripe of Trad Metal not far removed from acts like Battlerage, Skullview, or Majesty. The guitars are heavy and crunch out good riffs, and some of the leads are very tasty. If there's a weakness here, it's singer Sergio Cisternino, who is not terrible, but not great either. He reminds me a lot of Sven D'Anna of Wizard, right down to the dodgy falsetto. When he is doing hard and rough, he sounds okay, but his actual singing is borderline. That aside, this is a highly enjoyable slab of trad metal that hammers and crunches along and will definitely keep your head banging. |
