By the fires of hell, someone still knows how to do it! Tribe of Pazuzu are an international act helmed by former Overthrow and Pestilence member Nick Sagias that's made up of seasoned hands from acts like Maciferation and Cryptopsy, along with guest performances from Jörgen Sandström of Gorguts and Grave fame and Christian Donaldson of Cryptopsy, to stomp skulls into slurries with death metal the way mom used to hate. Think something between Sadistic Intent and Altars-era Morbid Angel with a bit of Formulas in the chugging riffs of "Invocation of the Ancients" and you have the general idea, and it slaughters innocents just as hard as that implies. Meaty, crushing riffs, flailing, atonal solos that'd do Azagthoth proud, eye-popping drum work courtesy of the one and only Flo Mounier, and the low, clear grunts of main man Nick, whose vocals rank among the best in the style today, come together with ferocity and conviction that you just don't hear much anymore, certainly not of this quality. A brick of bloody vintage gold from the hands of tried-and-true professionals that's not to be missed. See below for more interviews... ↓ |
