This is a kind-of rerelease by UK band Eld Varg. One Man Army was put out in 2021, but this is an entirely re-recorded version with better production and bonus tracks. So it's the same songs, but an entirely new recording. Eld Varg is a solo project, but you wouldn't know it from listening, as it sounds like a very organic band recording. This is heavy, crunchy Heavy Metal definitely in the vein of the new generation of Trad Metal bands like Grey Wolf, Gatekeeper, and Megaton Sword. This is meaty stuff, with a thick guitar sound and a lot of chugging rhythm riffs. Sole bandmember Ollie Noakes is a solid guitar player, and even his vocals are pretty good, even if they are not spectacular. This is a very polished recording, and even if none of the songs are really first class, they are all enjoyable slabs of steel. A band to watch for. |
