Do you like raw, melodic black metal like France made back in the late '90s? Clarion Knell certainly do, and their latest EP is proof enough of that. This has some good melodic licks, and is generally good at generating a grim, hateful mood, but it also has aimless songwriting that never really builds to anything before quietly resolving or just stopping, and every good idea on here is one done by dozens of other bands without being done well enough to make up for its derivative nature. This is good while it's on, but it won't stick with you for long. |
