This band caught me by surprise with their EP from last year, Battle-Sight Zeroing, and as that EP was as long as what a lot of Death Metal bands call full-length, I was not expecting to see a new album so soon. I am not complaining, as this is a band that have flown under the radar for far too long, with an impressive body of work behind them, and A War Too Far is probably their best yet. Once again this band serves up a smoldering slab of Death Metal that mixes a thunderous Bolt Thrower rumble with a very Swedish sense of melody. Once you find out that band mainstay and guitar player Anders Biazzi used to be in Amon Amarth and played on Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds and Once Sent from the Golden Hall, then the sound of this makes perfect sense, because it is very much like classic Amon Amarth crossed with Those Once Loyal. Crunching, riffing, crushing Death Metal right down to the bone. |
