Walk With Titans is a relatively new band that was formed in 2019 and is comprised of musicians that have been kicking around the Canadian metal scene for years, more than 20 in some cases. Their debut album is called Olympian Dystopia and is full of the kind of speedy, "happy" power metal that saw its heyday at the turn of the millennium. Power metal typically demands crystal clear sound and spotless performances, and with the combined experience of the musicians involved, they pull off both seamlessly. They follow the power metal template closely, so fans of high, clear vocals, double-kick drumming, grand lyrics (centered around Greek mythology on Olympian Dystopia), big melodies, and even bigger choruses rejoice, because it's all here for you to drink in. "Herakles," "Last Ways," and "Edge of Time" are speedier, sure to get your pulse racing while "Gods of the Pantheon" and "Gift of Fire" let up on the gas a little bit to give you a bit of a breather, but the album is generally a speed fest. After the first few spins, I was thinking this was a technically proficient but generic power metal album apart from the closer "Eurydice," which I think has a wonderful mix of speed and soulful yet catchy vocal melodies that stuck with me right away. However, the more times I spun Olympian Dystopia, the more songs started sticking around after it was over, so a little extra time may open it up for you as well. Walk With Titans have produced an album that should be right up the alley for fans of Stratovarius, Heavenly, Avantasia, etc.
