Second album of ambitious Black Metal from this band from Baltimore, of all places. This is dense, somewhat experimental stuff not that far removed from bands like Nightbringer or Bestia Arcana, with long, complex songs that segue from heavy blasting to slower, more melodic, moody passages. The individual parts are all solid, but I find the overall songwriting to be more than a little baggy. This is never boring, and it keeps twisting and turning and doing new things, but it also never really manages to come together into a coherent sound. |
