Ecocide started around 2012 or so and released a first full-length in 2013, but we are only now getting a second one, Metamorphosis. I can’t compare against the first one, but I like what I hear and it was probably worth the long wait. Think of a mix of Florida and Swedish death metal, and you have a good idea of what these guys are about on this album. Razor-sharp riffs, some buzzsaw guitar work, deep, rough guttural vocals are blended together in a whirlwind of speedy death metal that will make your neck sore from all the headbanging. Lots of machine-gun riffs as well to exercise your air-guitar skills. The music is heavy but not overly so, and the occasional trad/thrashy vibe adds a bit of seasoning. Nothing new here, but very well executed and you can play this on a loop for hours—assuming your neck doesn’t give up on you. Nice artwork as well. ;) |
