I don’t know what I was expecting from the band and album name, but it wasn’t this. The music on Blood Eel is strongly rooted in second-wave, Scandinavian-style black metal, with plenty of speed and more blasting than you can shake a stick at, basically wall-to-wall sound. They mix in some death metal for good measure, but the black metal elements are predominant throughout. The album is a big wall of noisy, heavy black/death metal that rarely ever relents, not exactly something new but it’s well done and powerful and entrancing as hell, though your neighbours may not appreciate it as such. ;) See below for more reviews... ↓ |
