It’s not surprising for self-described Speed Metal to be a throwback to the ‘80s in style and approach, it’s only surprising for it to be this good. This is a riffing, headbanging metal feast that honestly sounds like it was recorded in like 1984. There are the expected similarities to the pillars of the genre like Exciter, Razor, and Agent Steel, but that would all refer to those bands’ output before 1990 and nothing since. The production is raw enough to be fun but still clean enough for you to hear everything. The lead work is really good, and the musicianship in general is really first-rate, especially for a genre that often wallows in sloppy instrumentation. The vocals are a thrashy bark that fits the music perfectly, and really nails down the pretty much pitch-perfect sound of this album. If you like ‘80s Speed Metal, then this is a mandatory purchase.
