This actually came out last year, but Sentient Ruin is doing a vinyl pressing, which is why I have it now. Abhorrency are a band from Sacramento, and despite the cliched name and style, this is pretty fucking killer. I like the recording that mashes all the sound together into this seething cauldron of aggression, the hollow bellow of the vocals, the quality of the riffs that come slashing through the chaos. This is a band that has a real feel for when to come down heavy on a slow riff and really punch it, and when to crank things up and blast away. Death Metal density and heaviness mixed with Black Metal attitude and aggression. |
