Weird name, but some pretty cool black metal with a good infusion of punk and with the occasional black ‘n’ roll vibe to boot. This sounds somewhat like a mix of mid-paced Marduk and Darkthrone, both early for the rawness and chaos and also when the band left black metal behind to go into a more punk and heavy metal direction. This is not refined at all and comes off messy and chaotic, kind of like a garage band that rocks the socks out of unsuspecting dirty club crowds on a Friday night, and that’s what makes Rodentlord a fun album to listen to—pure unadulterated black/punk/thrash/heavy metal with no pretensions. |
