We Shall Remain is the fourth album from Sweden's Eleine and I have to say, it's my favorite of theirs so far. Sure, this is a band that is glossy and media-friendly, which probably turns a lot of people off, but behind that is some solid music. They play a modern style of dark, gothic metal and I they've increased the "beauty and the beast" vocals, which is a plus. "Stand by the Flame" has a haunting melody to go with the beautiful vocal lines and "Never Forget" has one of their more memorable choruses, to go along with the aforementioned male and female singing. Other songs are less enchanting, with tracks like "Promise of the Apocalypse" and "Through the Mist" aimed at a more mainstream audience, though still quite heavy. The target audience for We Shall Remain is the Delain/Epica crowd, specifically those that like a solid dose of Evanescence in the mix. If you are in that demographic, it is worth checking out.
