I've seen this name floating around before, but this is my first time hearing Mons Veneris. It's relatively raw and chaotic black metal with lots of speed and attitude, while not going into Scandinavian-style blasting. The vocals can get annoying at times, whether they're clean-ish or chipmunky or when they're going "aaaah-aahhha-aaaah-aaaaah-ah." Hmmm, yeah, I guess I'm just not fond of the vocals. ;) But that doesn't make the music unlistenable. It's pretty savage and sometimes borderline anguished stuff, even a little catchy here and there, and at 24 minutes the EP doesn't overstay its welcome. |
