Time Immortal Wept is the fourth full-length album from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania's epic metal crew, Legendry. In Sargon's review of their Dungeon Crawler, he mentioned the band's long, noodling songwriting as a strength, an observation I agree with, and they've leaned into that on Time Immortal Wept. The lengthy title track and "The Prophecy" are highlights with their sprawling compositions, emotional ebb and flow, heavier parts mixed with acoustic guitars and fanciful keys, etc. These are excellent songs in the vein of early Manilla Road and classic '70s Rush. There are shorter songs on this album that are also quite good, such as "The Bard's Reverie" which has an Atlantean Kodex vibe and "Sigil Riders," one of my favorites on the album. Before I get into what I like about that song, let me point out that the vocals are still a bit dry and lacking charisma, and the guitar tone is weak throughout Time Immortal Wept. On "Sigil Riders," however, all of that is washed away by shining lead guitars, full of wonderful '70s-inspired weirdness. That's the case with a lot of the solos so even though the riffs don't land as heavily as I'd like, the lead work picks up a lot of the slack. So, there you have it, Legendry have come up with their best album since their debut, one sure to please fans, especially those who enjoy a good dose of eccentricity in their epic heavy metal.
